When is the best time to visit the Playa Blanca?
Winter is a popular time to visit Playa Blanca because the wind drops, temperatures cool slightly and it is generally quieter than the summer peak season. Temperatures in December still reach 21°C so there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, though you might want to wrap up warmer in the evenings when it can be much cooler. If you are looking for hot weather however, the best time to visit Playa Blanca in August.
Spring
Spring in Playa Blanca can boast as many as 9 hours of sunshine each day between March and May and temperatures can reach 25 °C. The spring weather is ideal for those wanting to do outdoor activities and those simply wanting to sunbathe. Playa Blanca rainfall in March averages at 12 mm, but reduces to just 1 mm of rainfall throughout the whole of May.
Summer
Visiting Playa Blanca in summer you can expect plenty of sunshine and no rainfall. The weather in June through August will promise up to 9 hours of sunshine each day however, the evening temperatures in Playa Blanca drop slightly and will be felt more if there is a breeze coming in off the sea.
Autumn
Playa Blanca in September will reach maximum temperatures of around 28 °C but will cool to around 24 °C as we move into November. Rainfall in September is minimal as 2 mm throughout the month but will increase to 11 mm in October. The weather in Playa Blanca during winter is relatively mild in comparison to the rest of Europe with temperatures reaching around 21 °C and the days still promising at least 6 or 7 hours of sunshine each day. Mild winters in Playa Blanca make it a popular, year-round destination for sun seekers. December tends to see the most rainfall with an average of 23 mm falling throughout the month.
Playa Blanca tourist information
Lanzarote is the fourth largest of the Canary Islands, behind Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. Many of these islands are famously volcanic and Lanzarote's Timanfaya National Park delivers a fantastically alternative landscape. In Playa Blanca you can take the walk up Montana Roja and survey the crater at the top of the volcano. The Marina Rubicon is Playa Blanca's famous port harbour. The harbour has a popular market and it's particularly busy during those balmy evenings when the lights are on and the pavement cafes are full. There's an abundance of restaurants, shops and bars scattered around the perimeter of the marina.
Los Ajaches forms a welcomed and beautiful wilderness on the outskirts of Playa Blanca. Driving in this region's lunar landscape can be a unique experience, and it also gives you access to places like the beaches of Las Coloradas. The Castillo de las Coloradas harks back to medieval times and casts an eerie silhouette over the sea; because of the castle's purpose as a vantage point, it enjoys superb views over the surrounding coastline.
