SADIS API service summary
Summary
This is a human-readable summary of (and not a substitute for reading) SADIS API Licence Agreement and SADIS Standard Terms. Such summary is merely provided to aid understanding of certain key points. You should carefully read all terms and conditions of SADIS API Licence Agreement and SADIS Standard Terms before accepting them as part of the contracting process for the SADIS API, API Services and Data. Capitalised words in this summary shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the SADIS API Licence Agreement and SADIS Standard Terms.
You are free to:
- Use – use the SADIS API and API Services in accordance with clause 3.3 of the SADIS API Licence Agreement and Data in accordance with clause 8 of the SADIS Standard Terms. This includes using the same for your own Internal Business Use;
- Share - (if your organisation has responsibilities defined in ICAO Annex 3, Chapter 2, for the provision of meteorological service for international air navigation to supply operators, flight crew members, air traffic services units, search and rescue services units, airport managements and others concerned with the conduct or development of international air navigation with meteorological information) share the Data as provided in its original form or in a combined product to third parties within the civil aviation sector in your country subject to you meeting relevant restrictions such as (i) notifying Us before sharing the Data outside of your organisation, (ii) giving appropriate credits to the Met Office and/or WAFS, (iii) limiting use to written terms that are no broader than the rights granted to the Customer under SADIS API Licence Agreement and SADIS Standard Terms. Such ability to share is for the Data only – it does not cover the SADIS API or API Services. If your organisation has no responsibilities regarding the objective of meteorological service for international air navigation under ICAO Annex 3, Chapter 2, you are not permitted to share the Data itself, but can share visualisations of the data with your users.
Key provisions include:
- Permitted Use – Data can only used by the Customer and permitted third parties headquartered in the Customer’s country solely for use in activities related to civil aviation;
- Liability – the Met Office zero liability for the SADIS API and API Services for reasons such as: (i) SCRAG Agreement Article VI (Liability); (ii) the Met Office providing the services on a cost recovery / non-commercial basis; (iii) You being able to profit from the Data You receive when You sub-licence the Data to third parties (i.e. if you are the Meteorological Authority for Your State and We charge for £x for the SADIS API and API Services you can charge permitted civil aviation users in Your State such as your national airline, flight planning companies more than £x for using the Data);
- Warranties – the Met Office’s sole warranty is that it is authorised to grant the licences to make use of the Deliverables. Whilst the Met Office will provide the SADIS API and API Services with reasonable skill and care and in all material respects in accordance with the EUROCONTROL SWIM technical specification, the Met Office: (i) provides the SADIS API and any other API Services on an “as is” basis; (ii) does not provide any warranty about the reliability or availability of the SADIS API and the API Services; and (iii) does not warrant that the Deliverables will be fit for the Customer’s intended use;
- Indemnities – You indemnify Us for Your use of the SADIS API or API Services, Your Users’ use of the Data and You or Your Users’ breach of the SADIS API Licence Agreement;
- Adapt – You shall not modify, or change the Data, SADIS API or API Services;
- Fair Use - access to the SADIS API is subject to a fair use policy (currently set out within the SADIS API user guide) with associated technical measures and monitoring implemented;
- Termination – Your access may be terminated for reasons such as if the relevant national body in the Your State fails to pay the relevant SADIS charges or withdraws from using SADIS, we are prohibited from providing the SADIS API, API Services and/or Data by UK export control laws and guidance, the UK Government and/or applicable sanctions.
To register for the SADIS API Service you will have to confirm that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy, and acknowledge and agree that you will be bound by the terms and conditions of SADIS API Licence Agreement and SADIS Standard Terms which will apply to your use of the SADIS API, API Services and Data until you withdraw from using the SADIS API and/or the SADIS provision ends.
