Products

The range of products we provide on behalf of the CAA for UK aviation is extensive.

Products include forecasts for airports across the UK such as TAFs and aerodrome warnings. We also provide area forecasts including UK low level significant weather charts (also known as F215s) and GAMETs, and as a designated Met Watch Office we have a responsibility to provide detail on several upper air hazards via the SIGMETs for the UK FIR. We also provide a range of specialised services for UK users such as ballooning forecasts.

These forecasts are disseminated in several ways to enable them to be easily accessed by prefight planning systems, as well as being hosted by the Met Office’s own pre-flight briefing service.

To supplement these, we provide access to extensive resources to help Industry understand and make best use of these forecasts and services.

NATS

The Met Office has a team of highly skilled meteorologists fully embedded at NATS En-Route centre in Swanwick, Hampshire. Providing tailored products and consultancy to NATS in real time 24/7 they are a fundamental part of ensuring the effective and safe management of the UKs airspace.
