Tanzania - WISER support for enhancing the capacity of the Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA)
The purpose of this project was to enhance the capacity of TMA in the provision of climate services for the agriculture, energy, marine transportation, disaster and water sectors.
The project was led by TMA who are working in partnership with the Met Office and the Tanzania Meteorological Society (TMS).
As a result of the project, priority users of climate information services gained increased access to improved co-produced weather & climate information products which were and continue to be integrated into planning and decision making; contributing to reduced vulnerability of climate related hazards and strengthened weather and climate information dissemination channels.
Producers and users benefitted from improved skills and increased knowledge in co-production and application of weather and climate information products. The project will also contribute to the industrialisation vision of the country by enhancing the productivity of the identified sectors.
