Current activities

Laura has been working in the UK energy industry since 2007. She is currently a senior scientist at the Met Office, providing services to the renewables and wider energy and water sectors. Currently she is involved in projects assessing the weather impacts on overhead power lines, other recent projects have included updates to UK maps of atmospheric corrosivity and overhead line ice accretion. Water industry projects have included exploring UK rainfall and updates to the Met Office Advanced Meteorology Explorer. 

Career background

Laura studied Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College, London and holds an MSc in New & Renewable Energy from Durham University. After her studies, with a passion for driving forward the energy transition, she spent three years as a wind resource analyst in the planning of prospective wind parks before joining the Met Office to assist in the development of services to the sector.
