Helen is a scientist working in the Radiological and Biological team in the Atmospheric Dispersion and Air Quality Group.

Current activities
Helen works on the application of the Met Office's Dispersion model (NAME) to releases of pollutants from events such as nuclear accidents. Recently Helen has been working with a social scientist to examine how ensemble atmospheric dispersion forecasts are interpreted by the atmospheric dispersion community.
Career background
Helen has worked in the Atmospheric Dispersion and Air Quality Group since joining the Met Office in 2023. Prior to joining the Met Office, Helen completed an MPhys at the University of Oxford, a PhD in Biological Physics at the University of York, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Biophysics at the University of Oxford. Helen's publications from this time are in the area of single-molecule super-resolution microscopy, as applied to various biological questions.
