This Evening and Tonight:

Often cloudy this evening with a few showers, and a chance of some longer spells of rain in the far northwest. Showers continuing into the night but most places should stay dry with occasional clear spells. A warmer night ahead. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Wednesday:

Rather cloudy at times, with patchy rain clearing eastwards through the day mixed with sunnier intervals. Feeling warm in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Drier and brighter through the period as high pressure builds into the weekend. Lighter winds than of late with temperatures near to average.

High pressure will tend to be located either over or close to the UK through much of this period, leading to a more widely settled period of weather for most, with some cool nights, but near or slightly above average temperatures by day. That said, weak frontal systems could still provide some cloud and patchy outbreaks of rain at times, this most likely in northwestern areas, and there is a chance of some heavy thundery showers and more humid conditions in the south too. The mostly settled conditions are expected to then win out, with high pressure building in from the southwest once more, with the chance of seeing a more widely showery spell towards the end of this period considered low.

Moving through then beyond mid-September confidence for the continuation of settled weather falls low. Instead, it is more likely that there will be a return to a mixture of weather types, with spells of wet weather interspersed with drier periods. By this period it is expected temperatures will have returned to near average, perhaps slightly cooler than average in the north or northwest at times.
