Some mist and perhaps a few shallow fog patches at first, quickly clearing, then a fine and dry day with light winds and plenty of sunshine. Sunshine perhaps turning hazy in the afternoon. Feeling pleasantly warm. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Tonight:

A dry and largely clear evening and night, with light winds but a chance of increasing amounts of high level cloud in the south. Relatively mild. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Saturday:

Windy and generally clouding over with an increasing risk of showers and perhaps some thunder close to the south coast later. Warm away from coasts. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Often cloudy on Sunday and Monday with rain and showers pushing erratically north, perhaps heavy and thundery at times. Cooler, drier on Tuesday, with sunny spells but further showers later.

Confidence is very low even at the start of this period (unusually so, in fact), but the most likely scenario is that sunny spells and showers will tend to dominate, especially so in the south, whilst northern areas, especially the far north, may see more in the way of drier spells between less frequent showers. There is a smaller chance that this more settled regime could extend countrywide. Temperatures are expected to be around or a little below average for the time of year, with some chilly nights possible. There is an increasing chance, into the weekend, of further warm/humid weather, with potential for thundery rain, before conditions possibly then turn more broadly settled and cooler from the northwest once again through the following week.

Moving through then beyond mid-September confidence for the continuation of settled weather falls. Instead, it is more likely that there will be a return to a mixture of weather types, with spells of wet weather interspersed with drier periods. By this period it is expected temperatures will have returned to near average, perhaps slightly cooler than average in the north or northwest at times.
