Today:

A dull start with low cloud and hill fog, cloud thick enough to give the odd spot of rain and drizzle through the morning. Drier into the afternoon with the occasional sunnier break developing. Winds staying light. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Largely dry this evening with a few clear spells to start. Low cloud gradually building from the south with some patchy drizzle over the hills by dawn. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Thursday:

Another grey day with a blanket of cloud and a few spots of rain and drizzle. Slightly breezier and cooler. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining cloudy but breezier through Friday with some drizzle around. Showery outbreaks of rain on Saturday with further spells of rain on Sunday and stronger winds.

A band of rain across western and northern parts of the UK will move steadily southeast during Sunday, the rain becoming increasingly light and patchy with time. Next week will see a good deal of dry, settled weather as high pressure builds across the UK. However, after a reasonably bright start, increasingly cloudy conditions are likely to develop, with patchy drizzle possible at times and also some fog patches, these slow to clear. After a windy spell across northwestern parts on Sunday, winds will become mainly light, but breezier around the periphery of the UK, especially in the north later. Temperatures will be near or a little above average overall, although some cold nights are possible. From mid-month, possibly turning a little more unsettled, more particularly towards the northwest.

A general trend towards more unsettled conditions for all parts seems more likely than not through this period. Initially, there is likely to be a northwest-southeast split, with more unsettled conditions towards the northwest whilst drier conditions persist towards the south and east. However, as we head into December, a more unsettled and mobile picture will probably develop across all parts. Temperatures will probably be close to or above average overall, although some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north.
