Remaining rather cloudy overnight with further spells of light rain and drizzle, particularly in the north. Light winds persisting, allowing mist and hill fog to return across the high ground. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Wednesday:

Mainly cloudy with patchy light rain at first, though becoming dry by the afternoon. The best of any brightness to the lee of high ground. Light winds and feeling mild. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

High pressure dominates, bringing a dry but cloudy end to the week. Low cloud leads to persistent hill fog across high ground, though a few brighter breaks are possible too.

A band of rain across western and northern parts of the UK will move steadily southeast during Sunday, the rain becoming increasingly light and patchy with time. Next week will see a good deal of dry, settled weather as high pressure builds across the UK. However, after a reasonably bright start, increasingly cloudy conditions are likely to develop, with patchy drizzle possible at times and also some fog patches, these slow to clear. After a windy spell across northwestern parts on Sunday, winds will become mainly light, but breezier around the periphery of the UK, especially in the north later. Temperatures will be near or a little above average overall, although some cold nights are possible. From mid-month, possibly turning a little more unsettled, more particularly towards the northwest.

A general trend towards more unsettled conditions for all parts seems more likely than not through this period. Initially, there is likely to be a northwest-southeast split, with more unsettled conditions towards the northwest whilst drier conditions persist towards the south and east. However, as we head into December, a more unsettled and mobile picture will probably develop across all parts. Temperatures will probably be close to or above average overall, although some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north.
