This Evening and Tonight:

Mild this evening with rain spreading eastwards, at times heavy, before blustery showers develop across the southwest. Becoming windier overnight, particularly along the south coast, and feeling colder too, with a local frost possible in rural parts by dawn. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Tuesday:

A cloudy and breezy morning with isolated blustery showers. Mainly dry during the afternoon with occasional sunny intervals but showery rain possible in west Cornwall. Feeling cold despite winds easing. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Staying cold with wintry showers possible on Wednesday and Friday but dry with sunny periods for most. More general rain, sleet and snow could occur on Thursday. Frost and ice.

After a cold start with increasingly cloudy skies into the weekend conditions turn more to rain, sometimes heavy, with strong winds. On the leading edge of this some brief snowfall is possible, this more likely across parts of northern Scotland. Strong winds and blustery showers, especially in the west close the weekend before a more settled period develops. Late in the month there's still potential for more organised bands of rain and stronger winds, with some wintry conditions possible, though most snow limited to northern hills. Conditions remain uncertain at the turn of the month but increased signals for a resumption or continuance of more settled conditions with temperatures mostly just below average for much of the period.

Signals vary in prevailing weather patterns through early December. In general, there looks like a trend towards drier and more settled conditions, with high pressure potentially being the more dominant influence over the UK. However. there is also a chance of more changeable weather patterns, which would see Atlantic weather systems periodically move across the country. These will bring some wetter and windier interludes with a risk of some snow, especially for hills in the north. Temperatures generally a little below average becoming close to average through the period.
