Land Sea Mask

A new 1 degree land sea mask has been developed to use for our 'precalculated extents and area'. This was because the HadISST.2 data set has a generous ocean mask, resulting in artificially large sea ice extents and area when not accounted for. This new land sea mask produces more realistic values for our users. This mask was created using the following data sources:

Ice sheets - RTopo2

Great Lakes - OSTIA

Rest of the world - CCI Land Cover
