Station data updates

We update CRUTEM4 each month with new station data for the previous month. CLIMAT reports from more than 2000 stations are received at the Met Office, quality controled, and used to make the gridded dataset. This page contains the quality controlled station data for recent months.

This is not all the station data used in monthly CRUTEM4 updates. In addition to incorporating data from CLIMAT messages, monthly updates of CRUTEM4 also source data from Monthly Climatic Data for the World (MCDW) publications. These data are not included in CLIMAT summary files below and are available from the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). Station data files for the full CRUTEM4 data set are available from the CRUTEM4 data page.

Most of the data for a given month will appear in the following month's update, but CLIMAT reports are sometimes delayed, so these files may be updated for up to 12 months after they first appear.
