HadUKP Data

The links in this table take you to text files containing the daily, monthly and seasonal totals for each region. Please note that EWP monthly values start in 1766, the England and Wales sub-regions begin in 1873, and the Scotland and Northern Ireland monthly series begin in 1931. All of the daily series begin in 1931.

Please note, the last 6 months' values are subject to change as a result of quality control. Also please note that, in 2011, we re-calculated all daily and monthly UKP values from January 2006 to date using a more representative selection of stations, as described in this Climate Memorandum, to counter the effects of various station closures over the past several years and to take advantage of some new stations which are now available. In doing this, we took steps to ensure that this will not have affected the homogeneity of the series. The above Memorandum includes lists of all stations used.

The daily totals files are updated each day around midday and contain provisional UKP values up until two days ago.
The monthly and seasonal files are updated once a month on 5th of the month with QC'd UKP data up until the last full month.

Corrections:
January 2023: During the reformatting of the daily series files from the previous fixed width into the current flat file format, some of the historic rainfall values were incorrectly truncated.

These erroneous values have now been updated in the daily totals files for the affected regions.
