General situation

High pressure will continue to affect the inshore waters of Wales and central and southern England, bringing light to moderate winds and fair weather to these areas. Further north, westerly or southwesterly winds become fresh or strong at times, with occasional rain or showers, especially near northwestern Scotland.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: Westerly or southwesterly 4 to 6, occasionally 3 at first in south. Smooth or slight in Moray Firth, elsewhere mainly slight or moderate, but becoming rough later to the west and north of Orkney. Rain or drizzle for a time, mainly in north, then showers later in north. Good, occasionally poor at first in north.

Outlook for the following 24 hours: Westerly backing southwesterly 4 to 6, occasionally 7 near northwestern Orkney.
